I examine nature's chaos and beauty through abstraction. My work emerges from two extremes in environments where I have lived: the Gulf Coast with its verdant land and furious hurricanes, and the other, New Mexico, which is spare, dry, and meditative. My paintings, prints, and installations illuminate urgent ecological questions and my personal journey across terrain that is a metaphor for life's events, as I use mercurial materials like heat, wax, and pigment that lead to unplanned ideas and fresh imagery.
